County GOP chairman offered felony plea deal

Cherokee County, TX Republican Party Chairman Steve Looney sentenced to 5 years probation for felony theft by a Public Servant.

June 2012:

Adult Protective Service officer Stephen Ray Looney accepted a plea offer after being indicted in December 2011 for felony theft and tampering with government documents. (Source: Jacksonville Progress)

The indictment stems from Looney charging APS for plumbing upgrades on his own private property, then lying about it when he was caught. County Republicans asked for his resignation after he “vehemently denied the charges.” (Source: Jacksonville Progress) Looney claimed on State forms the work performed was for his elderly clients, some of whom were living in Looney’s rental homes.

No word if Looney gets to keep his job with Adult Protective Services while visiting his buddies at the Adult Probation Office.
